Fraud Alert & Important Notice

Fraud Alert.png

Catholic Charities does not request or accept payments through WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram Messaging, text messages, or personal payment apps (such as Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, or gift cards).

Catholic Charities has been made aware of fraudulent individuals falsely using the Catholic Charities name and logo, most often claiming to represent our Legal Services or Immigration Program. These individuals may contact people using unofficial messaging platforms and request payment, sometimes claiming they can make direct payments to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or expedite services or even making payments through us. These messages are scams.

Please be aware:

Catholic Charities will never contact clients from personal or unofficial accounts.

  • We will never request upfront payments through messaging apps or ask clients to send money to individuals.

  • All services, fees, and communications are handled directly through our official offices and staff.

  • Catholic Charities does not collect USCIS filing fees on behalf of clients unless explicitly discussed in person with authorized staff.

If you receive a message claiming to be from Catholic Charities and are unsure of its legitimacy, do not send money or personal information. We encourage you to contact our office directly using the phone number or email listed on our official website to verify.

If you believe you have been targeted or impacted by a scam, please report it to Catholic Charities of Southern New Mexico directly.

Your safety and trust are very important to us. Thank you for helping protect our community.
