VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Store Merchandising

Description: This individual will be handling donations, including receiving, classifying, pricing, stocking, and displaying items and helping customers.

Requirements: Commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities DLC. All volunteers of Catholic Charities are required to pass a background investigation.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is required to stand, walk, talk, sit, hear, and handle. Lifting and moving of items     depends on the individual capacity of the volunteer.

Experience in driving a medium sized company truck is a plus. (No CDL required).

‘Handyman’ experience is a plus (restoring donated goods in order to make the sellable).

*Work environment: Warehouse. Individuals with asthma and/or allergies are     advised that the work environment includes a medium to high level of exposure to dust particles.

Marketplace Assistant

Description: The Marketplace Assistant will assist the efforts of the Catholic Charities Store Marketplace to support artisans and farmers from Southern NM and abroad.

Volunteer’s Role and Responsibilities, includes but may not be limited to:

-Monitoring Marketplace inventory in Store, making note of which items are selling, which are not, and when items need to be replenished.

-Updating supervisor of Marketplace observations, making suggestions related to ordering new items.

-Merchandising current inventory in Marketplace, arranging displays to be visually attractive to customers and ensuring items are tagged with prices.

-Helping to merchandise new inventory as it comes in, including typing, printing and displaying product information tags for some items.

-Developing relationship with current and prospective Marketplace partners.

-Helping plan and implement special events, ie. seasonal crafts fairs.

-Helping develop and implement marketing plan to spread the word about the Marketplace, connecting with community and University groups.

Requirements:

-Commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities DLC. All volunteers of Catholic Charities are required to pass a background investigation.

-Interest in supporting artisans and farmers from Southern NM and abroad.

-Interest in retail merchandising, prior retail experience a plus.

-Excellent social and communication skills, written and verbal.

-Regular access to reliable transportation, computer with internet and email, and telephone.

-Self motivated and willing to work independently.

-Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is required to stand, walk, talk, sit, hear, and handle. Lifts and moves items up to 10 pounds.

-Working Environment: Work is performed in an office setting
