Board Members are actively engaged in the following areas:
I.Participation
A.Preparation and Information Gathering
1.Become knowledgeable about CCDLC history, geographic service areas, culture and purpose.
2.Seek information about present CCDLC programs, staff and issues being faced.
3.Respond promptly to meeting notices, mail ballots, communication, and other requests.
B.Attendance
1.Attend scheduled board meetings, as per Bylaws.
2.Attend committee and task force meetings, annual retreat, and other events as requested.
C.Active Involvement
1.Get involved in determining CCDLC mission and goals and setting policy to guide the staff and insure sound program, fiscal and administrative management.
2.Initiate and/or carry out at least one special project or task or committee assignment annually.
3.Use expertise and experience on behalf of CCDLC.
II.Personal Support
A.Finances
1.Make an annual financial gift to a level of personal significance.
2.Make CCDLC a top charitable, non-profit priority during tenure as a board member, without impacting local congregation giving.
B.Prayer
1.Pray for the people and work of CCDLC.
C.Caring
1.Work cooperatively with other board and staff members, keeping the mission and goals of CCDLC in mind.
2.Express encouragement, support and appreciation for work of board members and staff.
3.Be aware of, report, and respond to concerns and celebrations in the lives of other board members and staff.
III.Outreach and Advocacy
A.Introduction and Cultivation
1.Seek opportunities to talk about CCDLC.
2.Implement ways in which new people may become involved.
3.Identify and cultivate prospective volunteers and board members.
4.Use every opportunity to increase the visibility of CCDLC.
B.Securing Financial Support
1.Identify prospective donors.
2.Participate in fund raising efforts.
3.Make contact with all levels of governmental representatives (both appointed and elected) to help improve funding and services for children and families.
Requirements: Commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities DLC. All volunteers of Catholic Charities are required to pass a background investigation.
